Week 1: Project Run & Play

I am not sure about you folks, but I am pretty excited about Project Run & Play!!! Think Project Runway, but here in Blogland, and for kids!!!

Some of the contestants are my absolute favorite bloggers, including No Big Dill, Sewing in No Mans Land, and The Cottage Mama. I cannot wait to see them throw their hats in the ring week after week! And then there are the designers I have yet to become acquainted with…for a full list of all the contestants, click HERE.

Of course, I want to be a part of it as much as I can…duh!

And when I saw the theme for Week 1 ‘Winter Wonderland’, I thought I would share what popped into my head! I give you the Winter Wonderland Cape…

Think Little Red Riding Hood, in the Winter, with lots of hand cut appliqued snowflakes. Lol, either way – I thought it was cute!

I don’t have a pattern to share with you on this, when my back went out everything else kind of flew out the window with it (including the hand muff I wanted to make to match – boo!) But I found a simplified version on-line HERE for a basic hooded cloak.

Either way, we had fun playing Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf…

Then flying Super Heroes…

And just had some fun after being cooped up in the house the past few days…

One of the reasons I actually love capes is for their many functions. One, kids just have more fun in them as you can see above. But furthermore, they can be jackets, or blankets as needed. I keep some fleece ones in my car just in case – in case the kids get cold while we are out and need a jacket. Or in case the kids falls asleep and need a blanket.

Some things just never go out of style :)

Good luck to all of the contestants this week at Project Run & Play, I absolutely cannot wait to see all of the fabulous creations you come up with!!!
