Show and Tell Angel Tutorial

With Valentine’s Day coming so soon, I have seen a barrage of Valentine’s Day inspired posts in blogland. Some of them are so very cute and inspiring, it made me stop and think. Who is the author of love? And what is the greatest gift of love we can receive?

The answer was simple. God is the author of love, and the greatest gift of love we have ever received was the gift of his Son. So as we are celebrating this Valentine’s Day, a day filled with love for our family and friends, and most of all our partners, I wanted to take a moment and remember the love He has for us, that we are commanded to share with others:

Love each other, as I have loved you – John 15:12

For those of you who follow me regularly, you know I have been challenging myself to come up with Fat Quarter projects after my friend over at 2 Little Hooligans started Fat Quarter Friday. A great weekly project where she will share with you projects you can make with those little Fat Quarters you buy at the stores (outside of quilting!). Last week my daughter asked me to make her a ‘R’abbit for Show & Tell at school, which gave me my first Fat Quarter project. And I must admit, making a stuffed animal was tough for me – definitely a challenge I want to divide and conquer.

This week for school the letter was ‘A’, and I thought it was a great opportunity for another Fat Quarter Show & Tell project. Not wanting to go the alligator route, I decided on an Angel. I went a simple route because I think this Show & Tell Angel can serve many purposes out there, and I hope it does.

Needing less than 1 Fat Quarter to make, and a piece of scrap fabric for the heart stomach, it is an easy project for a novice sewer to whip up and give to any child this Valentine’s Day – or any other day for that matter! And if you decide to embroider a scripture on the front, it can literally be a ‘Show & Tell’ Angel. Speaking the message of God’s love to all the little children.

Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these. – Matthew 19:14

And as I listen to my daughter learn in Sunday School the message of telling others about the love of Jesus, I think of what a great opportunity for HER to be able to give a Show & Tell angel to someone else. Teaching her to love others, the way God has loved us. The greatest gift of love we have ever received.

This Valentine’s Day, as God is smiling down on us as we shower those around us with love, don’t forget to look up and say thank you.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. – John 3:16
