Charming Window Pattern Remix

When I saw these pillows over at Moda Bake Shop, I was in love.

The only problem was, I am TERRIBLE at home decor!!! I kid you not, I am a BIG. FAT. FAILURE. when it comes to sewing something for my home.

What’s a girl to do?

With a little imagination and creativity, I was able to turn this pattern into something I AM good at – kids clothes of course!

I give you the Charming Window Belt Remix…

To make the Charming Window Belt, you simply need to…

Follow along with the tutorial found at Moda Bake Shop, but instead of making 3 separate rows – make one row.

I didn’t know how long, or how many I would need to make until I started – therefore I made a row of 7, which ended up being way too many! For my 4 year old, I only needed 4 windows.

Once you have the major pattern completed, you simply…

Cut (5) pieces of fabric the same size as your window belt for backing & Sides.

Using bias tape, sew along the upper and lower edges, attaching the front and backing at this time.

Take the (4) remaining sides and cut an arc out to the edge.

With right sides together, take (2) sides and sew along the outer edges. Repeat for other (2).

Turn right side out, and Press. Edge stitch.

Fold under raw open edge Press. Slip belt inside and Pin. Sew closed, enclosing belt within to secure.

And voila, you now have a super cute belt, almost kimono style, to go with any dress in your child’s closet! Or of course, your own closet if you make it longer…

Looking for a quick tute on the dress style? You can find me hanging out today, and every Tuesday with my girls at The Girl Creative!

Thanks so much for stopping by today and checking out my entry into the Pattern Remix Series! I hope to see you back here tomorrow where Shauna from Shwin & Shwin will be joining us!!! I can’t wait to share with you what she has in store…you won’t want to miss it :) .

Til next time, Happy Sewing!
