With Chloe in Gymnastics, I have had the attached skirt leggings by Make it & Love it on my to-do list for a while now.
Regular leggings are fantastic, add a skirt and some sequins to them…
And you have just hit yourself a home run.
I varied from the tutorial in the waistband area. Rather than making a whole new waistband, I cut the skirt and legging fabric with a higher waist and then turned it into the elastic casing. At the time, I thought I was cutting down on prep work. But in retrospect, I wish I had followed her tutorial for the waistband as I think it looks nicer.
All is well though, I made up for it with sequins. Lol.
Thanks so much for stopping by, and until next time…
Happy Sewing!

So cute! That was one of the first online tutorials I ever used. The skirt I made for Charlotte now fits Caroline!
Oops, should have clicked through. I thought you were talking about this tutorial: http://www.makeit-loveit.com/2009/08/repurposing-skirtleggings.html
oh – that is a cute tute too! I had’t seen that one before – they are both very similar.
i love that! less searching for things that match. im seriously debating on sewing all of my little girls undees to their skirts. hmm, maybe i could call them skirtdees…:)
I love the sequin detail! Are the leggings attached to the skirt? Interesting!
Love the purple with the teal sequins! If I ever have a girl…I’m pretty sure I will have a never ending list of cute things to sew!
Did you use some of that elasticized sequin trim for the sequins? I used some as a waistband over the bodice-skirt seam of a dress a while back, but I couldn’t figure out how to attach it with my machine without crusing up the sequins. If you have any tips, I would love to hear them. Thanks!
Hi Sarah –
It was an elasticized sequin that I had been given as a gift. To tell you the truth, I didn’t really think twice about it. Just grabbed a strong needle, and sewed right on through on the sides. Worked like a charm!
I am new to sequins, only having worked with them twice, but these seemed pretty easy.
Hope this was of some help. Thanks!
