About 7 months ago we were all given a treat when Lindsay, aka the Cottage Mama took the plunge and decided to open up her own pattern line. We watched with jaws open as we saw one gorgeous photo after another of her first pattern tour for her Janey Jumper and Shortcake Romper. I am still oogling over the gorgeous scallop lined front of that dress!
Her inspiring paper patterns are as professional as they come, but have that special touch of the Cottage Home that we have all come to know and love.
So needless to say, when I was given the honor of getting a sneak peak at her second round of pattern releases, I was super excited…
Gah! How was I supposed to choose just ONE to review?!!
The ruffles ended up drawing me in, and I opted for the Ruby Ruffle Dress…
Notice something funny? Yeah – I ended up not making it with ruffles! HA!
Made with the new Lucys Crab Shack fabric line for Moda, I knew this fabric needed the more A-Line approach to truly show off its fresh and fun design. So I opted to do a little mix between View A & View B of this fun pattern…

I love versatile patterns like that, don’t you?! I was able to pick and choose exactly what I wanted between View A, B & C – and make the dress most suited for the fabric I was working with. It was awesome!
I tend to make mine shorter than recommended, but that is simply a style preference. My kids always wear tights or bloomers underneath their skirts and dresses.
But here is something Lindsay probably didn’t anticipate.
