Gingham Burlap {Tutorial}…

Chloe has been asking to have a lemonade stand of her very own all Summer long now. And what kind of mother would I be if I didn’t encourage the little entrepreneur in her?!!

So when I received a gorgeous burlap tablecloth from my sponsor Burlap Fabric, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it…

You all know my love for gingham, I just can’t seem to get enough of it lately.

And with both of my daughters having Spring / Summer birthdays, I knew a tablecloth like this would go a long way in our house…

I loved the idea of taking a simple burlap tablecloth, and giving it an offbeat kick.  Burlap is such a fantastic fabric to work with, we have all seen the beautiful photos of burlap weddings.  Lace, ivory & burlap are such a fabulous combination.  So I was really intrigued to see how I could take that same concept and give it a new dimension…

I absolutely love how it turned out!

Giving your burlap a gingham edge is super easy to do. Simply…

And that’s it! Be sure not to slop the paint on – you want to remember that gingham is supposed to be lighter in some squares, and darker in the squares that meet. So just a light brush of the paint is perfect.

As for the lemonade stand?

The girls absolutely loved it, and got 4 whole customers!!!

Not bad considering only 5 drove by.

But to the girls, those 4 customers meant the world to them.  The best few dollars ever earned.

Thanks so much again to Burlap Fabric for the fabulous inspiration, and be sure to hop on over and check them out.  So much fun!

Thanks for stopping by, and until next time…

Happy Sewing!

That’s a wonderful lemonade stand…who could resist buying lemonade from those sweet faces?!:) Our kids have always wanted to do one but we live in the back of our neighborhood on a court. Not a lot of drive by traffic. Though, our neighbors have graciously purchased shells from the kids when they went door to door selling them (without my knowledge, I might add). But we live in a great neighborhood and know all our court neighbors quite well so it wasn’t that big a deal.

Love this idea. This would be so cute to make it into a backdrop, or something along those lines. Especially for a baby photo shoot. So cute!
