I am so excited to have today’s guest here, Heather from The Sewing Loft!
I had the pleasure of meeting Heather during Sewing Summit, and it was one of the fated meetings that was just meant to be. She is one of the most chill, down to Earth person you will ever meet. We hit it off right away, and have been talking ever since.
This amazing Momma not only comes from the world of fashion having graduated from FIT, and having worked at designing children’s clothes in some incredible children’s apparel stores that we all know and love – but is now coming out with her own pattern line for Simplicity! How exciting is that?!!! I love this woman, and couldn’t wait to see what her and her gorgeous children would come up with together for K.I.D.S.
Hello, Hello Me Sew Crazy Readers!
To tell you that I am so excited to be part of this fun series would be an understatement. You see, artwork is kind of a big deal in our house and I am always looking for an excuse to do it with the kids. So, this was perfect for my crew. Not to mention that when my older daughter overheard me chatting about the project, she jumped all in. She told me that she wanted to create something for her sister. {not kidding}
So, I put her to work with pencil and paper. She quickly sketched something fun and told me she wanted it to be a coin purse. Then it was off to my fabric stash where she zeroed in on my felt collection and picked out a bunch of bright colors.
She was a star behind the machine, got friendly with the seam ripper and even stitched her 1st zipper using this easy install method.
We had a bunch of laughs making funny faces at each other with fabric scraps and I never miss an opportunity to remind her that I’m ALWAYS watching…
It really was a blast to see her color choices and watching her problem solve the pattern making. She used this “us” time to remind me that she wants more time behind the machine! (She really took the time to drive this point home!)
In the end, I loved helping her bring her design to life. My crazy 8 ball says that there will be more designing in Lady A’s future! Thanks so much for having us Jess it was a blast!
Heather, this has got to be the cutest thing ever! I loved reading this post, and really feeling like I was a part of the creative process you and your daughter went through together. This is fantastic! So much fun to see K.I.D.S. happening with older kids as well – thank you so much for being here and being a part of the Series! Personally, I think you could turn those frog coin purses into a sewing pattern…ahem, just saying
You can visit Heather at The Sewing Loft to see more of her incredible creations…
Thanks so much for stopping by, and until next time…
Happy Sewing!
