Palak from the Sewing Rabbit Team is here today showing off an adorable easy felt crown tutorial! This little crown is perfect for Halloween costumes, birthdays, tea parties and dress up boxes. The best part is that it’s super simple and cheap to make, and will take you less than 15 minutes to make!
How to Make an Easy Felt Crown – Sewing Tutorial
Lets get started!
You’ll need (2) 9″x12″ squares of acrylic felt, and whatever other felt scraps you can find. You could also purchase a quarter yard of premium felt, but that would take the price of this project up from 50 cents to 2 bucks. I decided to use the cheap felt squares since the crown will be made from multiple layers.
You will also need elastic for the back of the crown. Since this crown was for my little girl, I cut apart one of her elastic baby headbands. You could also use plain white elastic or purchase colored or patterned elastic. The length of the elastic should be the diameter of your kids head minus 12″.
(And don’t forget goodies! You can add buttons, embroidery, rick rack– just about any scraps of trim will do.)
To make the crown, fold one of your felt squares in half and draw the silhouette of the crown. I just free handed this, starting about 3 inches from the top.
Once everything is secure pin the backing crown piece we set aside to the back of the crown. Sandwich the elastic between the two pieces as shown.
Thanks so much for stopping by, and until next time…
